I had not heard of Chris Guillebeau until today, but I can see why his readers support him the way they do. He has decided to create a social movement called "The Art of Non-Conformity." I am sure you can guess what it is about.
To some this might sound like a crazy idea, but he has presented it in such a way to separate the remarkably average from those who might break through conformity and seize greatness. This speaks to me, as I have some aspirations of greatness, but I do not yet have clear direction.
Chris has posted on his blog a tidbit to get people interested in his idea, and in this "A Brief Guide To World Domination," his manifesto, he presents people with some specific, thoughts, examples, and more importantly for me, some questions.
I have thought often of his first question, which is, "What do you really want to get out of life?" This does not mean that I have an answer, but I have put a great deal of thought into it. My life has been a bit... challenging... and my goals seem to waiver from on thing to another. I will think about it some more and try to settle on what I want. There is a conflict between Greatness and Content, but Chris Guillebeau pushes the idea that perhaps one can have both.
The other of his questions I have not thought on. "What can you offer the world that no one else can?"
...

...
Hell, who knows.
So, I guess his words did what they were intended. I will think about what he has written. I will think about how to break the bonds of conformity, and once I have direction I will move down that path.
If you want to see the manifesto it can be downloaded from Chris' blog, here.
Also, if you hugely love the manifesto, you can buy the book based on the same idea, here.
