So... on the route from Drayton Valley to Wilmer I drive through the Kootenay Plains. On these plains happens to be an enormous reservoir. I have stopped to take photos of the reservoir several times in the summer, and I know that it flows through the Bighorn Dam. I did not know, however that the reservoir was called Abraham Lake. It is fed by the North Saskatchewan River, and it feeds the North Saskatchewan River. It is immense, and it is gorgeous. In the summer, the colour of the water is that opaque aquamarine that is the crystal clear water of the mountains combined with the rock flour pouring out of the glaciers... but, it is not summer.
I have stopped twice at Lake Abraham on my way back to Drayton Valley over the last few weeks, and this is what I saw...
