Moving to Drayton Valley... uh... Rocky Rapids!

With the having no luck finding a place in Drayton Valley I was told that my best bet was to drive up there and look for "for rent" signs. So, that is what we did. On Sunday my sister and I drove up to Drayton Valley. It was a great day for a drive, and the drive is a good one. When we got to Drayton our first impressions were good. It is a fair sized town, so it appears to have everything, including a movie theatre. We took drive down the main strip, which took like 5 minutes, and then pulled into one of the local restaurants... good food... good atmosphere... good everything...

I was beginning to like Drayton already.

We headed to an appointment to see an apartment... um... evidently you cannot get much in Drayton Valley for $800/month. The place was a very dark basement with a pretty strange layout. It did have a garage however and the people there were nice, but still... a bit to dungeony. After that we drove to an address of another place... yeah... we didn't try to get inside; we had seen enough. We were out of places we knew for rent so we just drove in front of some apartments and started to call to ask if there was space.

We got lucky. In not too long we found a decent place. When we called and we were allowed in things seemed good. The building was less than spectacular, but when we were taken in the place itself was great. It was looking good so I asked the landlady how to apply for it or whatever, since the basement dungeon had an application form. She looked at us and said, "you aren't druggies, you aren't drunks, and you either have a job or you will soon, so that's good enough for me."

Perfect.

She showed us another room in the building next door, but it was back to the regular Drayton for $800 standards.

Running late for supper, we headed home.

Getting home we were about to eat supper when I got a call from my Aunt-in-Law (if there is such a thing) saying that she had family in Drayton who might be renting out their basement. The next day I spoke with the family (what is a child of a cousin of an Aunt-in-Law... even then I am not sure I got that right...).

Anyways, that was yesterday. Today, I told them I would happily move in, and so my accommodation in Drayton Valley has been resolved by my moving in with a confusing but kind family relation in Rocky Rapids (10 min from Drayton).

Yay!!!
