Who is Nathan Fillion?
What do we need to know? He is from Edmonton (which I have been bred to see as the Nemesis of my hometown, Calgary), but still from Canada (yay). He has been in a number of shows being everything from the Star, to the Villain, to that guy that is just sorta... extra... Some of his more memorable roles are Captain Hammer, the Nemesis to Dr. Horrible in Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog (totally worth watching).
One of his more well known pieces is where he plays Mal, a totally awesome yet jaded space Captain who leads his crew through space on Serenity (a space ship), and totally gets them into all sorts of trouble from stealing medicine, to smuggling cattle. Firefly was unfortunately cancelled before its resolution, but a horde of raging fans made enough of a ruckus that they made a movie to wrap things up.
Currently he is the protagonist in a hella popular mystery show called Castle. Fillion plays Richard Castle, a super-famous novelist who manages to get himself in with the police department so shadow Kate Beckett a mystery detective. This gives him all of the inspiration that he needs to write his new series of books based on a character (roughly) based on Beckett: Nikki Heat. If you have not seen Castle it is definitely a must see. Simply... Double Rainbow. It is so good that they even manged to have the book that Castle wrote in the show published in the real world. Nikki Heat's first adventure, "Heat Wave" can be purchased, and the second book in the series "Naked Heat" can be pre-ordered for release in the fall.
So what does this have to do with anything? Now that you are familiar with the incredible Nathan Fillion you can be brought up to speed on a little... revolution that is still in its fledgling stages.
The Double Rainbow Revolution
There once was a man who went to Yosemite National Park. There he saw the most incredible thing! A Double Rainbow All The Way Across The Sky. This was so amazing that he took a video of it, and in the video you can hear his response to what he saw. The video is below, though you actually get the point like 30 seconds in and don't have to watch all of it, but still, we can understand how this Double Rainbow changed this man's life.
This man, who witnessed this awesome event, posted his movie onto YouTube. There it was exposed to the world through the World Wide Web... Nathan Fillion was also on the World Wide Web and now he too was exposed to this wonder...
Nathan Fillion then had an idea that could change the world... to coin a new term like awesome, or cool, that could be used in their stead to help convey the message of amazingness. This term was Double Rainbow.
Click Here to see the epiphany in its natural state as it burst onto the World Wide Web.
For those who don't want to click, this is a quote from Nathan Fillion's Twitter page:
"Ok, I'm recommending that the new "in" phrase be: Double Rainbow. Usage example: That pizza was so Double Rainbow. Oh my god."
-Nathan Fillion
And all of a sudden... a new usage for the term Double Rainbow was born. This term has begun spreading its way around the world through first the Internet, and now, through people saying it... out loud.
We need your help. Remember, cool is out, and Double Rainbow is in.
Nathan Fillion is so Double Rainbow. Oh my god.
For advanced users of the Double Rainbow terminology these expressions and acronyms can also be used:
DR = Double Rainbow
ATW = All The Way
AST = Across The Sky
FO = Full On
Usage examples:
That movie was so DRATW.
School is almost over, that is totally DR.
That was FODW.
And... from a recent tweet of Nathan Fillion...
"Double XP Weekend is Rocket Race!! FODRATWATS!"
